Genre - Horror



To begin this review i will let you know that I am a big fan of Stephen King and that I have read quite alot of his novels/novella and was kind of worried about his more "modern" works, but I was too paranoid as it was a great story. It is definatly not his best novel nor his worst but it was enjoyable non the less. The great thing about "Cell" is that it takes a everyday item and turns it into a problem.. a large problem, somehow a pulse is broadcasted through cellphones and cause's the user to instantly turn rabid and zombielike, but it is worth noting that they are not zombies, they are simply people infected with a disease much like thoese of "I am Legend" Pretty straight foward story line, Husband is interstate, infection takes place, Husband must get back to family. This may sound like another "dawn of the dead" type movie in a book and thats what it basically is, its very gory, realativly short, and easy to read and thats what made it so enjoyable. Overall it was a very fun novel, not very serious or memorable read, has some unique features but i will probably forget about it until the movie is released (quinteen tarentino :O) but for the holidays it was just a fun read.

The beginning of a totally fantastic series! The Dresden Files is so under-rated it almost makes me cry. It deserves all the publicity of Twilight and Eragon. The best way to describe it is "Indiana Jones meets Harry Potter". Its an exciting, clever, humourous and thrilling set of books that will have you hooked.

Forget Twilight! The Dresden Files leaves Twilight in its vampire dust.

Genre - Family Saga



What a great book. Short listed for the Booker. A rampaging, rolling Australian family saga that will keep you entralled all through the 700 plus pages. The Dean family are all intelligent but mad as hatters. They will lead you on a merry dance from Australia to Europe to Thailand and back again. I and out of prisons and mazes and weird adventures and romances. A wonderful book for a first novel. Like Gail Stone's "Sorry" it destroys my creative writing spirit - how could one better such creative writing and turns of phrase?
